Owen Street

Hello friends!  A lovely house awaits us today in Saginaw, Michigan, while very considerately providing gorgeous fall trees for this watercolor.
What drew my attention to this house were the listing photos, including some from 1915.

Anyone feel like a good before, before, and after?

This house was last sold (and dare I say decorated) in 1993.

Let's bring back a level of prettiness that references 1915, but looks very comfy for today.

Here are the listing photos of the dining room, followed by our inspiration:

{Randy Boyd}

Again, a very timelessly pretty look for the dining room.

I love this old photo of the sunroom:

This newer rendition is nice, but needs a little more prettiness.

Here we go:

Blogger Carolyn Aiken can whip up a beautiful, period appropriate sunporch like nobody's business.
Finally, let's check out the master bedroom.

This present-day rendition almost doesn't look like the same room:

To bring back more charm, I found a dreamy nod to the 1915 photo by combining these two rooms:

This house has beautiful appeal for any decade.  What a treat for the new homeowners to have almost 100 year old photos of their new gem.

  1. You've done a wonderful job transforming that home with your inspirational photos, Vicki!

    1. Thanks, Vickie. It was fun to get inspiration from those original photos. Have a great week!

  2. What a gorgeous home! I love the inspiration photos you chose:)

    1. Hi Ginnie. It's neat how much of the house looked the same, isn't it? I'm so glad you stopped by!

  3. Hi Vicki,
I love the name of the house and the architectural details on the front of the house. The Randy Boyd is charming---the Laguna Beach designer's house has been a favorite for years and like Charles Faudree houses, I recognize the furniture and accessories even though that particular dining space is different than he's had before.
Phoebe Howard always makes a room inviting and comfortable!
I think the seasons that come with the mid west might be fun (for a year or two). :-)

    1. Hi Karen, Actually I have you to thank when it comes to Randy Boyd, because I had seen pictures of his Laguna Beach house and didn't know who the designer was. It wasn't until I read your great post about him that I realized how much I admire his work. Neat that you can recognize it so quickly! The midwest is pretty right now, but my family says it's starting to get a little chilly! :)

  4. I always feel like I could move right in the homes you create. The Phoebe Howard bedroom is amazing!!

    1. I haven't met a Phoebe Howard room that I haven't liked, especially her bedrooms. She makes my posts look good. :)

  5. Oh, I am loving this one. I think it's wonderful that original pictures of the house were included. I love the master bedroom and that sunroom would be the perfect spot to relax with a good book... :)

  6. This is such a gorgeous home! Great bones and so much potential!
