Wainfleet Court, Springfield, Virginia

We've arrived in Springfield, Virginia today, to a townhouse that we'll re-imagine as a Parisian pied a terre.  This townhouse was built in 1968, but it's been updated and is just waiting to be decorated. 

Let's step inside.

I just found this pretty foyer inspiration. Loi Thai from Tone on Tone Antiques has the loveliest blog and business, and luckily for us, just posted more pictures of his breathtaking home. 

Loi has a Swedish console with French iron stools, and French tole sconces. The dimensions of the console are perfect for our space, and the stools and sconces establish the design direction we'll use for the rest of this home. 

On the ground floor is this family room. 

Wait for it. Am I going to suggest painting the brick? 

Actually, my answer is maybe. Yes, I do think that painting it creamy white, or even drywalling over it, as Better Homes and Gardens has shown above, would fit with the soft and pretty look of the foyer. However, this fireplace could certainly have a little Parisian flair just with accessories.  

I found this on Pinterest. Something like this would fill up the fireplace wall and add softness while carrying the overall look.  

The rest of the room just needs white slipcovered furniture and a few more touches.

First, the orb chandelier. I found an almost exact replica at Bellescape and at Layla Grayce, as shown on the left,  but a more budget-friendly option might be from Shades of Light (no affiliations).

Also, I think we need a velvet ottoman in lieu of that square coffee table.  Maybe this, from Amazon (affiliate link).  Finally, some romantic drapes, perhaps from Pottery Barn (no affiliation).

Let's take a break from shopping, and see what's waiting for us upstairs.

Here's a nice dining area, off of the kitchen. 

This is Centsational Girl, Kate Riley's pretty dining room. The chairs are the upholstered couture chairs from Ballard Designs.

Hmm, how about a round table in the square room, and maybe a warmer white look? 

Again, this is from Ballard Designs- the Cassidy dining room collection. I'll leave the decision to you.

Next is this space- I think it must be the other side of the dining room.  

All I know is, we're doing this to the space on the right.

This is the corner where you perch with your laptop or design magazines. 

Now, up to the top floor to check out the bedrooms. The master has a row of windows. 

This soothing room from Pinterest, below, would be easy to replicate. You could use the same curtains from Pottery Barn that we picked for the family room. 

Ballard Designs should love me after this post, because the other key Parisian elements could come from them. Their Jacque wall bracket and Henriette chandelier  are good fits. (I mean really, Jacque and Henriette? How could they not work in a pied a terre?) But guess what? Walmart has tufted headboards.   That means you can splurge on those monogrammed pillow shams.

Isn't that little seating area at the foot of the bed charming? I never would have thought of that, but you really would feel like you were in Paris in that cozy spot, complete with fresh roses.

The bedroom windows overlook a little courtyard. 

A few plants and a bistro set later, and we're ready to stop decorating and relax. Let's have some Perrier to toast.
